During the conversion, I first carefully sanded and used an adhesive base to ensure the paint would last. I applied a special vintage compass motif to the nightstand door using a picture transfer technique. I blended the background into the image's surroundings using a pittorico technique, so that the compass pattern blends subtly into the surface of the door, yet remains accentuated and eye-catching.
I made colour transitions on the sides and on the drawer with LP Midnight Blue and HH Chalk Paint Green Apple shades. The transitions give the furniture a unique character while giving it a fresh and natural look. I applied rust effects to the edges, which give a subtly worn, antique effect, enhancing the vintage style.
I treated the top of the cabinet with a walnut lazuré, which adds warmth and elegance while enhancing the natural grain of the wood. This contrast with the painted details creates a perfect harmony and enhances the special details of the furniture.
I finished off the whole transformation with silk gloss water-based parquet flooring. This finish protects the furniture from wear and damage from everyday use, while giving it a subtle, elegant shine. The finished piece is both timeless and aesthetically pleasing.
