This elegant, elongated and large mirror was reborn from an old Blondel picture frame, and with its unique antique effect, it can be a gem for any interior. The frame was first painted in Tuscan Olive in HH chalk paint, which gives it a warm and natural colour. I then applied a coat of grey paint and backbrushed it to leave the colour just in the folds, giving the surface a really subtle, rustic texture and dimension. The resulting play of colours is a unique combination of Tuscan country style and antique effect.
I used a subtle white tint on the frame embellishments to add depth and contrast to make the details stand out even more. Edges and trims are gilded, which adds elegance and makes the frame a true work of art. The gold highlights harmonise particularly well with the Tuscan olive and grey undertones, which together give the mirror a magical patina. As a finishing touch, I sealed the surface with silk gloss parquetry shapes, which protects the paintwork and gives the frame a pleasant, soft sheen.
