This mirror is a really special and unique piece that I created from an old, classic Blondel picture frame. Blondel picture frames are famous for their elegant and delicate decoration, which make any interior look richer and more characterful. This mirror is not only aesthetically stunning, but also carries a sense of historical value that adds a timeless elegance to any space.
The frame is made using a unique painting process. It was first primed with HH chalk paint in Tuscan Olive, which gives the surface a subtle, warm bluish tint. I then applied a coat of grey to the frame, which I rubbed back to leave only in the recesses. This technique beautifully enhances the depth and detail of the blondel frame embellishments and gives the mirror a patina-like, antique effect. A final surface refinement in white and gold highlights the special patterns and edges of the frame, further enhancing the elegance and timeless beauty of the piece.
I finished the surface with a silk gloss parquet finish, which not only provides protection, but also gives the frame a subtle shimmer. This solution highlights the unique combination of painted layers and provides a lasting shine without becoming overly shiny.
This vintage mirror can be a real jewel in any interior. Whether it's an elegant living room, a classic bedroom or a stylish hallway, the mirror's appearance will make any room look special and unique. Its size and proportions are ideal for different styles of interiors, and its colours create harmony with the surroundings. The combination of an antique-effect frame and modern craftsmanship techniques makes this piece a truly unique piece that can be the highlight of any room.
