This small, old Blondel picture frame has undergone a wonderful transformation and has been given a new look and function to serve as a mirror. Thanks to careful craftsmanship, the frame has become a unique and special piece that can be a stylish addition to any home.
The base of the frame is in LP's shade of Midnight Blue, a deep and rich tone that exudes modern elegance. After the base coat, I painted the frame with Tuscan Olive, then wiped back the paint to bring out the Tuscan Olive in the recesses. This technique gives the frame a unique texture and antiqued effect, highlighting its richly detailed ornamentation. The interplay of blue tones creates a calming yet eye-catching effect, perfect for vintage and modern interiors.
The embellishments are accented with gold, which gives the frame an elegant shimmer and further emphasises the subtle lines of the classic blondel pattern. The gold plating creates a discreet yet stunning contrast with the colours of the frame, lending a subtle luxury to this handcrafted creation.
As a final coat, I sealed the surface with a water-based silk gloss parquet lacquer, which protects the paintwork and provides a durable satin sheen. This lacquer highlights the richness of the colours and the unique character of the frame, while making the mirror surface resistant to everyday use.
