This charming, tiny blondel picture frame has been recreated in a unique vintage style that perfectly combines antique elegance and modern craftsmanship. The originally worn frame has been given a dark brown base colour, which with its deep and warm tone provides the perfect base for further layers of colour. The dark brown staining not only adds character to the frame, but also highlights its ornate pattern.
I painted the brown base layer with a light blue colour, which I gently wiped back so that the paint only remained on the surface of the frame, while the light blue shade came out from the recesses. This technique creates a special antiqued effect, which gives the feeling of a piece that has been worn over the years, yet beautifully preserved. The combination of light blue and dark brown gives a fresh yet timeless look that will blend well into any interior.
I have highlighted the frame's decorations with a delicate gilding to further emphasise its meticulous detail. The gold embellishments add an elegant sparkle to the frame that exudes luxury while maintaining the understated beauty of the piece. The gold colour creates a unique contrast with the light blue and dark brown background, further enhancing the visual appeal of the frame.
As a final step, I sealed the surface with a water-based silk gloss parquet lacquer, which provides long-lasting protection and a pleasant, soft sheen. This lacquer brings out the richness of the colours and the detail of the decorations, while preserving the antique character of the frame.
This beautiful, elegant vintage frame would make an excellent decorative addition to any home. It looks great in the living room, bedroom or even placed on a shelf, where it adds a subtly elegant and personal touch to the space. With its unique character and handmade beauty, it is guaranteed to catch the eye!
