This beautiful picture frame converted mirror is a truly unique piece, made using an extra wide, uniquely decorated antique picture frame with an open, wavy edge. Frames of this type are a rarity, as the wavy and openworked edge gives the mirror a unique look that can become the focal point of any room. The frame has been coated with HH chalk paint in Tuscan Olive, which provides a great base for further decoration.
I painted the Tuscan Olive shade with a light white paint and then wiped it back on, which stuck in the recesses of the frame for a subtle patina effect. This process gives the frame a special old look, as if it had evolved naturally over time. The technique of back-etching allows the white tones to remain only in the deepest parts of the frame, emphasising its texture and the detail of the carvings.
The frame is accented with graphite grey and gold trims, which provide an elegant contrast against the Tuscan olive and white background. The graphite grey adds depth and seriousness, while the gold colour suggests a sense of luxury and warmth, making the mirror both striking and elegant. These colours complement each other perfectly and together they create a special atmosphere around the mirror.
As a final finishing touch, the mirror is coated with a silk gloss parquet finish, which not only provides long-lasting protection, but also gives the mirror a beautiful, subtle shine.
