This beautiful vintage mirror was born from the reinterpretation of an old, small blondel picture frame, transformed into a unique and stunning piece. For the base coat, I used a Tired Green shade of HH chalk paint, which with its natural and soft colour, created an excellent base for the additional coats. This shade has a calm, vintage feel that will harmonise with any interior style.
I covered the Tired Green base coat with Moss Green, then gently brushed it back to leave only part of the surface layers. This allows the rich tone of the Moss Green to emerge from the recesses, while the original worn gold colour of the frame is also subtly revealed in the back-painting. This technique creates a unique patina effect that gives a sense of wear and tear over the years, yet still looks fresh and elegant. The harmonious interplay of gold and green shades gives the frame a unique character that is both modern and nostalgic.
For the final treatment of the frame, I used a silk gloss water-based parquet varnish, which provides long-lasting protection to the painted surface while giving the piece a subtle, silky sheen. The lacquer enhances the depth of colour and the play of gold highlights, while preserving the antiqued character of the frame. This finishing coat ensures that the mirror will retain its beauty and uniqueness for many years to come.
This vintage, antiqued mirror is the ideal addition to any home. It looks perfect in a living room, bedroom or hallway, where it exudes unique style and warmth. This piece is not just a functional mirror, but a true work of art that will brighten up a space and add character to a room.
