This vintage mirror was created using an old, large oblong blondel frame, which gives it a really special feel. The blondel style picture frame is famous for its beautiful embellishments and sophisticated look, which provided the perfect basis for the creation of this mirror. To paint the frame, I used HH Chalk Paint in Azure Blue, an elegant deep shade that gives the mirror a freshness.
I used a special technique to paint the Azure blue base colour with white, and then wiped the white paint back to bring out the white colour in the recesses. This method creates a beautiful texture and contrast that highlights the decorations on the frame and gives a special vintage effect. The combination of white and azure blue layers looks particularly good on the elongated shape of the mirror, as the playfulness of the colours brings the classic blonde style to life.
The frame decorations are highlighted with dark brown and gold shades. The dark brown colour gives a subtle depth and antique effect to the decorations, while the gold accents add elegance and light. These colours complement each other perfectly and give the mirror a classic yet fresh look.
To finish the painting process, I covered the frame with silk gloss parquet shapes, which not only protects the surface but also gives it a subtle, elegant sheen. The silk sheen of the parquet lacquer highlights the texture of the paint and the decorations, further enhancing the unique look of the mirror.
