The refurbishment started with a thorough sanding of the cabinet, after which an adhesive base coat was applied. A beautiful blue bird image of nature was applied to the door using an image transfer technique. I worked this with the background using a pittorico method, resulting in a softly washed, painting-like effect. The bird pattern on the door exudes a perfect harmony of nature and elegance.
The sides and drawers of the cabinet are also specially designed. I used different shades of HH chalk paint - Desert Sand, Powder, Dark Brown and White - to create subtle colour transitions that give the furniture unity and depth. I decorated the edges with a worn effect to achieve a vintage look that gives the piece a unique character.
The top has been treated with a walnut lazuré finish, which gives the furniture a rich, warm hue and enhances its natural beauty. I finished the entire piece with a silk gloss water-based parquet finish, which not only gives the surfaces an elegant sheen, but also provides durable protection for everyday use.
